Predators Battle Hard but Warriors Take Control in High-Scoring Derby Clash

The Predators showed plenty of fight in Sunday’s derby matchup, but the Warriors proved clinical in front of goal, skating away with a 10–3 victory at Planet Ice Peterborough.
The Peterborough Predators were beaten 10–3 by the Peterborough Warriors on Sunday evening in an entertaining and physical derby clash at Planet Ice Peterborough.
The Warriors made the brighter start and opened the scoring at 7:22 through Brad Plater, assisted by Oliver Cooper. They doubled their advantage at 12:39 when Nick McFarlene finished from assists by Ivo Kairiss and Rhys Evans to make it 2–0.
Plater added his second of the night at 16:45 with help from Austris Uperskeins, putting the Warriors firmly in control early on. However, the Predators responded immediately. Just 20 seconds later, Sam Dean got the home side on the board at 17:05, finishing from an Andy Dean assist to reduce the deficit to 3–1.
The Warriors restored their three-goal cushion before the end of the opening period as Oliver McGill scored at 18:18, assisted by Elliot Glendye, giving the visitors a 4–1 lead heading into the first intermission.
The second period continued in similar fashion, with the Warriors capitalising on their opportunities. Rhys Evans made it 5–1 at 24:19 before Oliver Cooper added another at 31:02, assisted by Plater, extending the lead to five.
The Predators continued to battle and found another response through Sam Dean, who scored his second of the game at 33:01 to make it 6–2 and give the home crowd something to cheer.
But the Warriors maintained control and struck again late in the period, with Cooper grabbing his second of the night at 38:28 from another Brad Plater assist to send the teams into the final period with the score at 7–2.
The visitors continued their offensive pressure in the third. Brad Plater completed his hat-trick at 41:04, assisted by Sam Bates, before Bates added one himself at 44:52 from a Plater assist to stretch the lead to 9–2.
