Predators Storm Past Cyclones With Dominant 6–1 Away Win

Jay Cullimore bags a hat-trick as the Predators produce a commanding performance at the National Ice Centre, with #72 Dan Sztymon named Player of the Match.

The Peterborough Predators returned from Nottingham with an impressive 6–1 victory after a dominant performance against the Nottingham Cyclones at the National Ice Centre.

Peterborough had to remain patient during a closely fought opening period, but their breakthrough finally arrived at 19:02.

#18 Jay Cullimore opened the scoring with just under a minute remaining in the first, converting after good work from Euan Simpson and Shaun Mcleavy to give the Predators a 1–0 advantage heading into the second.

The Predators then began to take control.

At 04:04 of the second period, #69 Shaun Mcleavy doubled the advantage with a shorthanded goal, giving Peterborough a huge boost despite being a player down.

Just over four minutes later, the Predators’ special teams struck again — this time at the opposite end of the spectrum.

#29 Ash Cotton made it 3–0 at 08:18 with a power-play goal, assisted by Euan Simpson and Jay Cullimore.

Cullimore then added his second of the evening at 11:44, putting Peterborough firmly in command at 4–0.

Any hopes of a Cyclones comeback were dealt another blow almost immediately after the start of the third period.

Just 1:04 into the final period, Cullimore completed his hat-trick to make it 5–0, with Shaun Mcleavy and Sam Bates providing the assists.

Nottingham did manage to get themselves on the scoreboard at 06:35 through #12 D Trock, reducing the deficit to 5–1, but there was to be no late comeback.

Instead, the Predators had the final say.

With 18:28 played in the third, Mcleavy grabbed his second goal of the game, assisted by Cullimore and Simpson, sealing an emphatic 6–1 victory.

It was an excellent all-round performance from Peterborough, with the Predators finding the net at even strength, on the power play and while shorthanded.

Cullimore finished the night with a superb hat-trick, while Mcleavy struck twice and Cotton added the other goal. Simpson was heavily involved creatively with three assists, while Cullimore also added two assists to his three goals.

⭐ Player of the Match: #72 Dan Sztymon

A commanding performance on the road and another big Predators win. 💚💛🏒
