Plater Hat-Trick Powers Predators to Victory in Chelmsford

The Peterborough Predators made it two wins from two over the Chelmsford Mischiefs with an entertaining 7–4 victory at Riverside Ice & Leisure. Bradley Plater stole the headlines with a superb hat-trick, while Harley Wardley and Shaun McLeavy both grabbed braces to secure another impressive road win.

The Peterborough Predators continued their winning start with an impressive 7–4 victory away to the Chelmsford Mischiefs on Saturday evening.

Having already beaten the Mischiefs 7–5 in their previous meeting, the Predators knew another tough contest awaited, and the home side certainly made them work for all three points.

The visitors made the perfect start when Bradley Plater opened the scoring just over eight minutes into the first period after good work from Jo Davies. Plater doubled the advantage before the break, finishing confidently after being set up by Harry Fitzjohn, giving the Predators a deserved 2–0 lead after the opening twenty minutes.

Chelmsford responded early in the second period through Jonathan Mooney, but the Predators quickly restored their cushion. Harley Wardley fired home following assists from Jay Alexander and Adam Long, before Plater completed a superb hat-trick with a powerplay goal, assisted by Dan Atkin and Ash Cotton.

Momentum continued to swing in the Predators’ favour as Shaun McLeavy struck twice in under five minutes, his second coming with an assist from Euan Simpson, extending the lead to 6–1 and putting the visitors firmly in control.

To their credit, the Mischiefs refused to give in. Three unanswered goals in the third period from Robin Turner (2) and Louis Gilson reduced the deficit to just two goals and briefly threatened an unlikely comeback.

However, with the pressure building, Harley Wardley produced the decisive response. His second goal of the night, assisted by Adam Long, settled any remaining nerves and sealed an excellent 7–4 victory for the Predators.

Bradley Plater deservedly took the plaudits with a clinical hat-trick, while Wardley and McLeavy each bagged two goals in a strong all-round team performance. The Predators also received valuable contributions throughout the lineup, with Jo Davies, Harry Fitzjohn, Jay Alexander, Adam Long, Dan Atkin, Ash Cotton and Euan Simpson all registering assists.

The victory continues a positive run for the Predators, who showed both their attacking quality and resilience to withstand a late Chelmsford rally before seeing the game out professionally.
